Nicky then wakes up in his house to a destroyed Neighbor house. Nicky then realizes that Peterson was a victim and helps him escape the trauma of his past, also causing Nicky to lose the trauma of his past on the process. The ghost of an older Maya thanks Nicky for his bravery and the two disappear, ending their demons of their childhood. Realizing the monster he’s become, The Thing disintegrates and turns back into Aaron. Nicky protects Maya and shows The Thing a stuffed doll that he and Maya played with as kids. However, The Thing (Aaron) haunts Maya and tries to attack her. Nicky escapes Peterson and finds himself in a giant Mansion inhabited by Maya. Suddenly, Nicky finds himself in a white room with a giant Peterson in it that attacks him. Nicky finds the Red key and enters the Basement, discovering The Thing and chasing after him. Nicky realizes that The Thing was Aaron’s demon, constantly reminding Peterson of the trauma he experienced burying them. Peterson had to bury Maya, and the crash with Diane was an accident. Nicky finally finds the last key, which triggers a vision that reveals that Aaron and Maya were playing hide and seek, and that Aaron accidentally pushed Maya off the roof, killing her in the process. Nicky then finds another key that leads to a Supermarket full of Manakins that attack him when he doesn’t crouch. Eventually, Nicky finds another key that leads to a school full of Manakins that attack him every time he is late to class. He tries to outrun Peterson, but is constantly caught by him. Nicky remembers that the secret of Peterson’s past lies in the Basement. Nicky deduces that Aaron and Maya are Peterson’s kids, and claims that Peterson killed them when they were missing. Nicky enters the door and discovers a rollercoaster that shows visions of Aaron and Maya in Peterson’s house. Nicky reenters the house and finds a key to a mysterious door. Remembering him as a kid, Peterson boards up the basement to prevent him from entering, and expands his house once again, becoming a giant house with cameras and craziness. Peterson catches him and throws him back to his house. He enters Peterson’s house and sees him in the Basement, along with a drawing of the Thing, drawn by missing kids Aaron and Maya, who are revealed to be related. Nicky then approaches the house and hears another scream from the basement. Nicky wakes up to discover Peterson’s house to be rebuilt, triggering his childhood trauma. As he enters his house, he falls asleep and has another vision of The Thing rebuilding Theodore Peterson’s house. Nicky then packs his stuff and returns to Raven Brooks. Searching for a place to live, Nicky discovers an ad for a cheap house in Raven Brooks, and Nicky remembers that the house is where he grew up. Nicky returns home and finds an eviction notice. Nicky tries to convince his boss about his childhood trauma, only to get fired in the process. After escaping, Nicky continues to have visions of The Thing, but they eventually go away, indicating that the horrors have ended.ġ9 Years Later, an adult Nicky Roth has moved to New York and lives in an Apartment with a lousy job.
